Welcome!

Jerusalem 2050 is a visionary and problem-solving project, jointly sponsored by MIT’s Department of Urban Studies & Planning and the Center for International Studies with the participation of Palestinian and Israeli scholars, activists, business leaders, youth and others. We seek to understand what it would take to make Jerusalem, a city claimed by two nations and central to three religions, “merely” a city, a place of difference and diversity in which contending ideas and diverse citizenries can co-exist in benign, yet creative, ways.  By extension, we hope to better understand conflict cities and find transcending themes and principles for addressing urban conflict.

We invite you to join us in this endeavor.

Our hope is that the exhibition and visions from the Just Jerusalem Competition will inspire you and other people around the world to work together to generate new art, new organizations, and new cooperative projects and synergies as inclusive pathways towards peace – solutions as opposed to THE SOLUTION of track 1 diplomacy.  We aim to create an open forum to engage global civil society in dialogue, envisioning, brainstorming, presenting, critiquing, and re-developing ideas for, not only a just, peaceful, and sustainable Jerusalem, but also for peaceful cities worldwide.

Please register as a user so that you can maximize your interaction on the site by posting messages, adding comments, and expanding our collective understanding of Jerusalem, the world, conflict cities, and civic engagement.

In addition to stimulating interaction and discussion, the Jerusalem 2050 website is a resource for material on cities in conflict and competitions as a methodology for dialogue and cooperation.  Please use the resources for educational enhancement and let us know about articles, links, organizations, etc. that we should add.

Thanks,

Jerusalem 2050 Team
